F&S builds 16.7 Hz special power supply for Stern und Hafferl

In order to be able to maintain and test dual-system vehicles DC 750 V and AC 15 kV 16.7 Hz in the future, Stern & Hafferl Verkehrsgesellschaft m.b.H. needs a suitable possibility for feeding the vehicles for its railroad workshop in Eferding. However, the nearest ÖBB overhead line is so far away that a branch line is out of the question. Our solution:

a special converter based on the F&S LC2 converter family, which provides a 15 kV supply from the existing 750 V overhead line voltage. Despite the low power of 300 kVA, it is possible to connect and operate multiple unit trains with several megawatts of power on the overhead line thanks to our specially developed active saturation damping. To minimize commissioning time, F&S will supply the converter, including output transformer, controls and cooling, as an integrated, compact and pre-tested containerized unit.
